Throughout all auditions (dance and vocal), we are looking for emotive performers who can draw us into their performance.
You do not need to participate in both portions of the audition if you would like to be a singer or dancer only. Attend the section that fits you. But if you would like to do any level of singing and dancing combination you will need to participate in both portions of the audition.
There will be a sign-up for the vocal portion of the audition to choose your time slot when you arrive on audition day. Vocal auditions are first-come, first-served. If you are only participating in vocal auditions, we suggest that you come before 2:30 pm to choose your time slot.

If you are unable to attend in-person auditions on June 22nd, please e-mail info@vibeatx.com to learn about alternative audition procedures.
Dance Auditions:
Please wear dance attire or comfortable clothing you can move in. If you have them, bring all applicable dance shoes - jazz shoes, ballet shoes, character shoes, etc. Dancing barefoot or in sneakers is also fine (please avoid black-soled shoes that may mark the floor)
We'll begin with a brief ballet warm-up followed by across-the-floor progressions, including leaps and turns in ballet, jazz, and lyrical/contemporary styles. Dancers will then learn one to two short combinations for the audition. The combos will include a mix of beginner through advanced levels.
We encourage everyone to attempt all dance combos, but if you are not comfortable with the any movement or more advanced combinations, that is 100% ok! We encourage you to follow along and just have FUN!
Vocal Auditions:
Please prepare a 32-bar or 45–60 second audition cut of your choice. Choose a song that fits comfortably within your vocal range and showcases your vocal strengths—it’s your time to shine, so pick something that lets your talent stand out! We recommend using a backing track, but singing a cappella is totally fine too! If you're using a track, please bring it on a phone or device with Bluetooth capability so you can easily connect and play it during your audition.
This year’s show pays homage to our favorite holiday movies—so bring that festive energy and show us your best song inspired by a holiday classic!
Note: We encourage you to steer away from traditional holiday music. While songs like “Silent Night” or “O Holy Night” are beautiful and meaningful, we’re leaning into the fun, non-traditional side of the season. Think “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”, “Run Rudolph Run”, or even songs featured in holiday movies that aren’t necessarily about the holidays, like “Snow” or “Sisters” from White Christmas.
*Be prepared to sing through vocal scales so we know your range and can cast you appropriately.
When are rehearsals?
Our large group/Director rehearsals are held on Sundays, with potential of a few Wednesdays scheduled. (If you aren't able to make the Wednesday rehearsals, that is 100% ok!) All Sunday rehearsals will be held in the morning into the afternoon/early evening.
Cast led group rehearsals are mainly held on Wednesday evenings with some availability on Sundays. Note: Cast led groups are optional pieces for additional participation and performance opportunities.
What is the time commitment?
The amount of time spent at any given rehearsal will be based on the number of pieces you are cast in, and the time slots they are assigned each rehearsal. If you would like to limit the number of pieces you are cast in, that is also 100% ok with us. We want to work with our cast members and what they are comfortable taking on for each performance. So, if you do decide to audition and are cast, just let us know if there is a max number of pieces you want to be cast in and we are happy to work with you to make that happen!
Additional time commitments:
As a small but mighty nonprofit, we rely on extra help to keep things running, especially when it comes to fundraising. One of the ways we do this is by partnering with Q2 Stadium to work soccer games, where we earn a portion of the profits. We ask all cast members to pitch in for a few of these events. Soccer games are usually on Saturday evenings, with an occasional game falling on a Wednesday or Thursday night. The energy is amazing, the crowd is fun, and it’s a great way to support the company. The funds we raise go directly toward the performance venue, rehearsal space, costumes, and tech crew.
